A Story To Tell
The problem

What it was like before.

A Story To Tell lets people build memory books, family trees, memorials and keepsakes online, on a freemium subscription. The product was sound. The problem was that nothing moved.

Eight months had passed without a shipped change. A trivial content edit — swapping one image — took two to three weeks. A handover took three to four. The subscription system had accumulated problems nobody had got to.

None of that is a technology problem. It is what happens when the people who can change the software are not available to.

What we built

In plain English.

  1. 01

Cleared the long-standing issues that had been sitting in the backlog.

  2. 02

Cleaned up the subscription system so the freemium tiers behaved as intended.

  3. 03

Stabilised the platform and fixed the errors that had been showing to real users.

  4. 04

Built the missing content and pages the launch needed.

  5. 05

Search and AI-search visibility, and security hardening — none of it in the original scope, all of it done before handover.

The numbers

What changed, measured.

Each of these is set out in how we count — what it measures, the basis, how it was checked, and where we have not finished checking.

In their words
“Working with my developer Ben has been an outstanding experience from start to finish. He took the time to understand A Story To Tell, fixed long standing issues, cleaned up the subscription system, resolved errors very quickly, improved stability, created new contents from scratch, polished website pages and made the platform feel genuinely ready for launch. His communication has been clear and quick, his work has been fast and accurate, and he's shown real car for the project. I'm extremely grateful for everything Ben has done, highly recommended.”
